Heated Division: Amateur, Amateur over 40 & over 50, Pro-Am & Pro-Am over 40 & over 50

Salsa, Bachata, Zouk, Hustle

All competitors must purchase a performer pass or full weekend pass in order to compete. 

Regular Pricing (Until Dec 31, 2022):

  • Amateur Heats: $45/couple

  • Pro-Am Heats: $35

2023 Competition Schedule    (Start time subject to change)

  • February 10th or 11th, 2023: Competitors can pick up their passes and get their competition numbers

  • February 12th, 2023:

    • 9:00am-10:00am: Competition number pick up if not done the previous days

    • *Start Time:10:00am Heated Competitions 

* Start time could be subject to change

Competition Rules and Definitions

  •  Amateur: A dancer who does not make a living as a dance instructor, performer, dance competitor or dance adjudicator

  • Professional: A dancer who receives financial compensation as a dance instructor, performer, dance competitor and dance adjudicator and who makes a living from this income. 

  • Pro-Am Division: One professional dancer (instructor) dancing with one amateur dancer (student)

  • Amateur Division: Two amateur dancers or students dancing together to form a partnership

Competitors should register in their respective level and can choose to register in one level above

The Capital Bachata Festival reserves the right to cancel or combine a heat category if there are less than 2 couples in the category. 


Heated Divisions: All couples will dance together on the floor to music that is selected by the organization or DJ. Heats generally last 1.5-2 minutes.  

Shines are allowed but lifts & tricks are not.

Heats Registration price details:

Early Bird Price Range: July 1st - Sept 30th

Regular Price Range: Oct 1st - Dec 31st

Late Price Range: Jan 1st - Feb 9th

Prices subject to HST + service fees

All competitors MUST purchase a performer pass in order to compete. This will be verified upon in-person competitor check-in.
